Etymology

Probably from a vernacular form of ग्रथ् (grath) / ग्रन्थ् (granth, to arrange, string together), via a series of sound changes ग्रथ् (grath) > *गठ् (gaṭh) > Lua error in Module:utilities at line 142: attempt to perform arithmetic on local 'h' (a nil value), with a metathesis of the consonant being aspirated.
